I’ve got a pretty sick cover for everyone today from the indie-rock/folk artist Cat Power.  Covering the Oasis mega-hit Wonderwall, Power delivers a minimalist rendition of the song wrapped in her signature smokey style.  The song was one of the tracks left off of Power’s 5th album The Covers Record, which consisted almost entirely of cover songs.  The album would peak at #44 Billboard‘s Top Heatseekers album chart.

Today is gonna be the day
That they’re gonna throw it back to you
By now, you should’ve somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I’m sure you’ve heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Today was gonna be the day
But they’ll never throw it back to you
By now you shoud’ve somehow
realized what you’e not to do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

I said maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me
After all, you’re my wonderwall
