I was getting a ride from a lovely young lady this morning, when this tune came on in her car. Not only was I stoked to hear this song for the first time in almost a year, but I was stoked to meet a girl with such a rad taste in music. Hospital Beds can be found on Cold War Kids‘ debut album Robbers & Cowards, released in October of 2006. The earlier Cold War Kids song I posted, We Used to Vacation, was the opening track to this album. A cover of Hospital Beds, by the indie-soul group Florence and the Machine, has been making the rounds as of late and can be viewed here.
There’s nothing to do here
Some just whine and complain
In bed at the hospital
Coming and going
Asleep and awake
In bed at the hospital
Tell me the story
Of how you ended up here
I’ve heard it all in the hospital
Nurses are fussing
Doctors on tour
Somewhere in India
(Chorus)
I’ve got one friend
Laying across form me
I did not choose him
He did not choose me
We’ve got no chance of recovery
Sharing hospital
Joy and misery
Joy and misery
Joy and misery
Put out the fire, boys
Don’t stop, don’t stop
Put out the fire on us
Put out the fire, boys
Don’t stop, don’t stop
Put out the fire on us
Bring the buckets by the dozens
Bring your nieces and your cousins
Come put out the fire on us
Vietnam fishing trips
Italian opera
Vietnam fishing trips
Italian opera
(Chorus)
