I’m a firm believer that there is no feeling more confusing than waking up from a nap. Every time I go through this ordeal the same three questions race through my painfully soggy mind: Why is there so much damn sun? How come I’m fully dressed? Should I be at work right now? After working my way through these questions this afternoon I decided to throw a post up. The song I chose to highlight is Second Son from the 2009 Polaris Music Prize nominated act Elliot Brood, and their debut full-length release Ambassador. The Canadian folk/alternative-country band made their way onto the Polaris short-list via the success of their 2008 sophomore release Mountain Meadows. Another standout track from the band is Without Again, which made its way into the #1 position on CBC Radio 3’s R3-30 chart.
It’s apparent that his parents never loved him at all.
He’s a second son of the friend of a chosen one.
Now he’s threatening to fall.
It’s been so long since this town done
Well hung one of it’s own
So it’s been so bad.
Killing’s what he had done to his family own.
Alright!
Alright, he’ll take that right now
He’ll be a good child.
Love you a way.
You know that fucker
Alright well sit inside
He’ll come on down to the ground
Watch as we come and hear
The second son of the friend of the chosen one
And he’ll meet his end
Now he’s threatening to fall.
It’s been so long since this town done
Well hung one of it’s own
So it’s been so bad.
Killing’s what he had done to his family own.
Alright!
Alright, he’ll take that right now
He’ll be a good child.
Love you a way.
You know that fucker
Alright don’t sit inside
He’ll come on down to the ground
Watch as we hang him
He’s been so bad
Killing’s what he had done to his family kin.
Alright!
Alright, he’ll take that right now
He’ll be a good child.
Love you a way.
You know that fucker
Alright don’t sit inside
He’ll come on down to the ground
Watch as we hang him
The second son of a friend of a chosen one.
And this is his end.
