I apologize for the two-day delay in getting this post up; I had planned on putting it up last night, but received a phone call from a friend of mine after work. 3 bars, 8 hours, and a 1am phone call to my sister for a ride home later, I found myself in no condition to write anything. Rockers East Vancouver is another track from the Japandroids debut full-length album Post-Nothing, released in April of this year. After making the Polaris Prize shortlist, I confidently predicted that Post-Nothing would cruise into this year’s gala via the longlist. Although this prediction ultimately turned out incorrect, I still hold Post-Nothing up as one of my favorite albums of this year. This particular version of Rockers East Vancouver is a live performance, coming from the “open music magazine and media network” NOISEVOX.
We used to go out
Get drunk and get sad
Good friends
But this town
And this scene
Has gone bad
We kept waiting
But still nothing changes
It’s a shame
Tired
Old youth
Burnt right out
We kept waiting
But still nothing changes
It’s a shame
All those past dues
All those bad moods
All those half truths
All those sad tunes
You wrote while you wasted away
Your big break was what you wanted
A little change was what you needed
Your big break was what you wanted
It’s a shame
(2x)
We kept waiting
But still nothing changes
It’s a shame
Tired
Old youth
Burnt right out
We kept waiting
But still nothing changes
It’s a shame
