Bedouin Soundclash front-man Jay Malinowski is slated to make his debut as a solo artist with a 13-song LP next Tuesday. ”Bright Lights and Bruises” will be Malinowski’s first musical endeavor sans Soundclash bassist, and writing partner, Eon Sinclair since the two met in University eight years ago. While Malinowski’s vocals will remind of the Juno-winning indie-reggae act, the tone of the album is markedly different. Created following the dismissal of former Soundclash drummer Pat Pengelly, mounting conflict surrounding the future of the band, and the collapse of a 7-year romantic relationship, Malinowski admits the album comes from his lowest point. Yet, as many before him have discovered, it seems that your finest work can come from your shittiest of places. Santa Monica is the first single to be released in support of the album and is currently available on iTunes.
Well I remember, you used to say that you want a revolution someday
Well funny how you forget
‘Cause I remember you’d be tied down and screaming
And I was this bad boy who never listened
No one hurts more than the man who won’t believe it
And you go down after all of this
Well I remember you’d be tied down and screaming
Santa Monica
Put up your hands
We’d surround each other with our mistakes
The British army, waiting for command
Santa Monica you’ve got no chance
And the day was about right
After all these men go to their beds
Ain’t it rich to ?
Well I remember you’d be tied down and screaming
Santa Monica
Put up your hands
We’d surround each other with our mistakes
The British army, waiting for command
Santa Monica you’ve got no chance
And the day was
And the day ends
And the day ends
Yeah and the day ends when you’re tied down and screaming
Santa Monica
Put up your hands
We’d surround each other with our mistakes
The British army, waiting for command
Santa Monica you’ve got no chance
you’ve got no chance
