I was digging around my desk today, searching for some notes I took during a meeting before the holidays. About 3/4 of the way through the mess I found a piece of paper that had “Joel Plaskett Fashionable People” scribbled into the bottom corner. Knowing that I only record the most important information on the corners of work documents, I headed over to YouTube to have a look. I have no idea how I forgot about this song, or even when I originally heard it, but I am hooked on it.
The track in question is Fashionable People from Canadian Indie-Rock band Joel Plaskett Emergency’s latest Album Ashtray RockAshtray Rock reviews
. Ashtray Rock has been described as a concept album about two friends growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The album would become a finalist for the Canadian Polaris Music Prize in 2007 alongside heavyweights Feist and Arcade Fire.
