Vancouver’s indie-rock/alt-country ensemble Ox are back this year, with their 3rd full-length release “Burnout”. The album, released on November 10th of this year, follows up the band’s 2006 effort “American Lo-Fi”. Today’s song is the title-track from Burnout, and is a fine example of the dusky Americana-flannel sort of vibe the band is capable of conjuring up. Ox wrapped up 2009 with an October tour through the UK, a return to Canada, and then a number of shows in Ontario throughout November. The band has yet to release any information regarding shows in the new year, but check beck at their show/tour schedule here or their MySpace here for updates.
I’ve got a flat-top
Bought it in a pawn shop
Soaking up rock and roll
Oh and the band calls
And I go, I go
Booked into Wichita
We’ll never make it from Mackinaw, just 12 hours
Interstate 75 the band had a blow out
We’re all lucky to be alive
Got a stolen guitar and I’m breaking the scene
Living the college chart radio dream
Tough breaks and folks that been kind
Now I’m rock ‘n rollin every night
Gonna rock and roll every night
Gonna rock and roll every night
Slipped in a hot tub
Passed out then I sobered up
Made a clean getaway
Oh I’m a burnout
I’m gonna shine before I fade
Got a stolen guitar and I’m breaking the scene
Living the college chart radio dream
Tough breaks and folks that been kind
Now I’m rock ‘n rollin every night
Gonna rock and roll every night
Gonna rock and roll every night
