Song Review
Another great song up today, this time from the Montreal indie-rock singer/songwriter/band-of-the-same-name Patrick Watson. The Great Escape can be found on Watson’s 2nd full-length album Close to Paradise, released in September of 2006. The album would go on to be named the best Canadian independent album of 2007 by the Polaris Music Prize, edging out an array of fantastic works such as Neon Bible from Arcade Fire, The Reminder from Feist, and Skelliconnection from Chad VanGaalen. Watson’s most recent full-length release, the 2009 album Wooden Arms, also found itself short-listed by the Polaris jury this year, ultimately losing out to The Chemistry of Common Life from Fucked Up. The band is currently amid a European tour before returning to Canada for shows in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. A full show schedule can be viewed here.
