Today’s song comes to us from the Vancouver-based indie-pop collective The Choir Practice. Described as “an excuse to drink wine and sing with friends”, the group is made up of Vancouver artists who perform pop songs in a choral style. The song I chose to share today is the group’s take on The New Pornographers‘ Failsafe, found on their 2007 release Challengers. Interestingly, The Choir Practice’s version of the song was released several months prior (via their self-titled debut album) to the official release of Challengers.
Ready to bolt
At the first glimpse of failsafe
Signing my checks
With a name that’s not mine
Clocking the hours that spin round through the tail end
(have to get used to it)
There’s gold in those hills ahead
We both had a hand in it
You and me both kid
You and me both kid
Raising a flag
At the first sign of failsafe
Another red flag and
You’re off of the the team
I left the game
To find you at the pavement
There’s gold in those hills ahead
We both had a hand in it
You and me both kid
You and me both kid
Ooooh
Ooooh
Ooooh
You and me both kid
You and me both kid
