Today’s tune is my current favorite off the Canadian indie-rock band The Dudes‘ brand new album Bloods. Guts. Bruises. Cuts., released June 2nd 2009. The album is an amazingly satisfying follow-up to the band’s 2006 release Brain. Heart. Guitar. If there are any Calgarians reading this post, the CD release party for Blood. Guts. Bruises. Cuts. will be going down at the Royal Legion #1 on June 13; The Vancouver-based indie-rock band Said the Whale will also be on the bill that night. If you’re digging The Dudes, feel free to check another two songs from the band that we have posted here, and here. Also, The new album can be downloaded here.
She says she knows exactly what I need
To love someone who’s not in love with me
I got called out on being dead inside
half-alive blew my mind
She wants me to want her and she promised that
And no matter what she would never want me back
And I’m like confused, cus it seems like bad news to me
My girl’s to sharp for her tender age
A little too big for this bed I made
I have her number but its no good to me
Another for where she works, I have something to tell her but
I’m not s’pose to call her she’s gonna call me
I see we don’t have a lot of love, but what we got is liberty
I don’t even call her, she won’t call back and that’s that
I’m gonna save my quarters for the laundromat
Oh girl you are so cruel
With all the things you do
My friends say “Why you gonna let her gonna play you like that man”
And I feel alone when I’m with you
I’m a fool, sometimes I can be a real asshole too
My girl’s to sharp for her tender age
A little too big for this bed I made
I have her number but its no good to me
Another for where she works, I think I could love her but
I’m not s’pose to call her she’s gonna call me
I see we don’t have a lot of love, but what we got is liberty
I don’t even call her, she won’t call back and that’s that
I’m gonna save my quarters for the laundromat
