Up today is another fantastic track from the Toronto-based indie-rock/pop ensemble The Ghost Is Dancing. Battles On can be found on the band’s defiant 2009 effort of the same name, released on April 28th of last year. The album follows-up on the group’s 2007 debut LP “The Darkest Spark”, a self-titled 2006 EP, and a 2004 EP titled “The City Waltz”. Today’s song is a fine demonstration of what the band can produce through their use of poppy hooks, dense layers of bright rock, and an endearing sort of energy that pulses through all their music. For more from The Ghost Is Dancing, and the new album, we’ve posted the band’s MySpace as well as another song below.

That day that he died a thunderstorm broke the telephone wires
then years later you found his letters but they’re meaning was mysterious and vague
So “welcome to the fight,” your uncle said as he left the room
and remember when I first met you; and you told me what this symmetry would mean
Here comes the battle
a brand new era
So we’re old children
let’s fight those bastards down
This is how we sleep without a home. Embyronic half-parental you’re awake.
“This is not the life that I had planned,” count the seconds between the lightning strikes
Here comes the battle
a brand new era
so we’re old children
let’s fight those bastards down
Make a decision
This desperation
Make a decision
C’mon let’s hit em where it hurts
