Today’s song has been stuck in my head for at least a week now, which typically indicates that it is ready to be posted. Gettin’ Dirty in the Afterlife is from the Halifax, Nova Scotia indie-rock band The Got To Get Got and their debut full-length release Sahalee. Sahalee boasts a very impressive supporting cast, including appearances from Warren Spicer of Plants and Animals and Jennifer Mecija/Anissa Hart of Ohbijou. To preview more tunes from the album, check out the band’s MySpace here, or pickup the entire album from the band’s website here.
Reborn in east lake
One foot in the grave
And one on the banks
One slip and I sank
Been a long 30 years
Just waiting for you to get here
Now our souls are in the clear
Cheatin’ house got nothing to fear
So what’s your baptismal name man
Why ain’t it the same
As the one marked on your grave
Were you married one day?
And it don’t matter you fool
That shroud looks so good on you
And if the coffins a rockin’ don’t come a knockin’
We’re gonna shake the soul screws out
Let’s roll around in our graves
We’re gettin’ dirty in the afterlife
We’re gettin’ dirty in the afterlife
We’re gettin’ dirty in the afterlife
Let’s stop wasting all of our time
Deer antlers in Chinatown
Me and Julio going underground
Hiding out in the ports downtown
Screen printing in the lost & found
Goddamn you will
Goddamn my own
We’re two stubborn fools
With no two directions home
When we were alive
we couldn’t find the light
Our lies were tied to a lie
Still we couldn’t deny
That ever since I died
I’ve been waiting for you
To come look me up
On the other side
Let’s roll around in our graves
We’re gettin’ dirty in the afterlife
We’re gettin’ dirty in the afterlife
We’re gettin’ dirty in the afterlife
Let’s stop wasting all of our time
