Really cool song up today, and an even cooler delivery. Marlaina Kamikaze comes to us via the Vancouver, British Columbia duo of Zachary Gray (guitar) and Tom Dobrzanski (piano), otherwise known as The Zolas. The song can be found on the band’s 2009 debut LP “Tic Toc Tic” which appears to have hit the streets early on in November. This particular version of the song is a live “first take” effort of the song that was done for Southern Souls. Southern Souls is the music/video project of filmmaker Mitch Fillion, inspired by efforts such as the Take Away Shows and the Black Cab Sessions; I strongly urge you to check out the performances from Mother MotherMother Mother reviews
and The Dudes. For more from The Zolas check out their MySpace below.

Oh Marlaina, you were something special
Please believe me when I tell you so
I’m a lion, when we are one
But without you I’m a, I’m a
I’m a Kamikaze, I’m a high-strung
I’m hanging up inside the hot sun
But think about you when I’m undone
Oh Marlaina Kamikaze life is not fun
No it’s not fun
You’re like a ghost to me, on every corner
You’re like a ghost to me, on every man’s arm
I know you’re somewhere in the (somewhere in the city)
You’re like ghost to me
You’re like ghost to me
Ran into your friends as they went to meet you
I was the land mine they had tripped across
I could see it in their eyes
They could tell that I’m a, I’m a
I’m a Kamikaze, I’m a high-strung
I’m hanging up inside the hot sun
But think about you when I’m undone
Oh Marlaina Kamikaze life is not fun
No it’s not fun
You’re like a ghost to me, on every corner
You’re like a ghost to me, on every man’s arm
I know you’re somewhere in the (somewhere in the city)
You’re like ghost to me
You’re like ghost to me
I’m breaking into sweats
Just trying to forget
All those young men there to comfort you
They work on film sets and message you online
And I know, I know, I know I gotta get this
I gotta get this off of my mind
But I must admit to you darling
You’re like a ghost to me, on every corner
You’re like a ghost to me, on every man’s arm
I know you’re somewhere in the (somewhere in the city)
You’re like ghost to me
You’re like ghost to me
