Vancouver indie-rock/pop ensemble The Zolas are back with another deceptively infectous track from their 2009 debut album “Tic Toc Tic”. Produced by Howard Redekopp (notable for producing albums from Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, and Mother Mother), Tic Toc Tic does well in delivering a three-piece band wrapped in a full-stage sound; The Great Collapse is a fine example that features it’s own brass section, as well as an organ contribution that sounds like it could be a string section. The band is currently in the midst of a western Canadian tour with the Kelowna three-piece We Are The City, who just recently took home the $150,000 grand prize in the PEAK Performance Project; the remaining dates are listed below. I dreamt about you the other night
We were there and people started to die
The seas rose to a terrible height
But we survived yes we survived (I don’t know why)
We watched the grass pile up in the cracks
The birds return, the nights went black
Yeah we were lovers in the great collapse
The seasons came, the seasons passed
So free what you love ’cause it’s gonna die anyway
Those golden days will be fossilized and you’ll scream
Oh back it up, back it up, but it’s not the same
Though it’s enough just to say I knew you well
Now I can’t sleep and I can’t say no
Civilization ain’t got no soul
The tick tock ticks out of control
I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll (he’s lost control)
Though when my dream ends
It’s true we’re hardly friends
I can’t forget those seasons
The world is one, the world is one
So free what you love ’cause it’s gonna die anyway
Those golden days will be fossilized and we’ll scream
Oh back it up, back it up, but it’s not the same
Though it’s enough just to say I knew you well
