For all the brother/sister combos out there that have dreamed of forming an electronic-pop band (Julie and myself included), there is now a living breathing example set.  Made up of the brother/sister duo S.J. and Maygen Kardash, the Canadian electronic-pop band Violent Kin released their debut LP “Bitter Blood” this past June.  Blue Eyes was the standout track on the album for me, thanks in large part to the unusual vibe it gives off.  Hidden between some very dark verse subject matter, lies a hook that forces you to get off the couch/chair/floor and rock out, though you almost feel guilty doing it.  For more from the band, check out their website here, or their MySpace here.

Father save me
I’m living my life in constant autumn?, I don’t think I’ll see rock bottom
Father pray for me
I know your mind is cloudy, do you remember when you loved me

I must have lived in the corner of your mind
Forgive me father, I have forgiven you
I must have lived in the corner of your mind
It’s like a white light that I’m addicted to

Father hear me
I know that I’ve been selfish, turned away your kindness
Father hear me
I’ve lost control, I’m no good for your hair?

Why are you saying hi, you should be saying low to me
I looked it up in the dictionary
This isn’t music, I’ll tell you what’s music
Give me blue eyes father give me blue eyes

How does your mind recall me
Have you been told I’m happy
Father
Oh father, I haven’t learned a thing, haven’t learned a thing

I must have lived in the corner of your mind
Forgive me father, I have forgiven you
I must have lived in the corner of your mind
I used to abuse it, now it’s abusing me too

Father hear me
I’ll meet you back in Red Deer, we can live in the same house
Father hear me
I’ll take care of my mother, let me come home

Why are you saying hi, you should be saying low to me
I looked it up in the dictionary
This isn’t music, I’ll tell you what’s music
Give me blue eyes father give me blue eyes
